Although paleontology was present as far as 5th century BC, it was only in the 18th century that it truly became a science. This happened after Georges Cuvier published his work on comparative anatomy. All modern-day paleontologists are aided by advanced technology that allows them to study and understand more about the ancient environment and ancient organisms.
Truly the science of paleontology has come a long way from when science actually began. Today paleontology is able to tell us more about history of evolution than just a decade ago.
