Better Understanding On Natural Selection
You need to have better understanding on natural selection if you want to be more knowledgeable about evolution. Basically natural selection is a process wherein good traits are inherited and become more dominant in successive generations while less favorable traits gradually diminish. |

Natural selection was introduced to the world by Charles Darwin via his book, The Origin of Species, which was published in 1859. In this book Darwin described natural selection by giving an example of artificial breeding wherein breeders ensure that the traits they deem favorable are kept when breeding animals.
A more basic understanding on natural selection can be explained taking into consideration our environment. When any changes take place in our environment, our body tends to adapt to these changes. Then, these changes are passed are passed on to our progenies. Organisms who cannot adapt to the changes in the environment will ultimately perish. Therefore, natural selection is a process by which evolution takes places within the population of a particular organism.
One of the most popular examples that gives a better understanding on natural selection is that of black tree moths living in a coal mining town in England. When mining flourished in the town, there was a lot of soot and coal dust in the air and the black tree moths prospered. However, once the mines shut down, from one generation to the next, the moths turned white to adapt to the changing environment around them.
It is believed that natural selection was basically developed as an idea because there was no theory to explain how inheritance took place. We have to realize that during the time Darwin proposed natural selection genetics was not a known science.
