When Did The Velociraptor Become Extinct ?
The Velociraptor belonged to the dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur species, and dominated globally throughout the late Cretaceous period. It looked shorter in comparison to its family members, and relatives of the same species. Despite having a short stature, it was no less than other dinosaurs. It had two feet with sharp claws, and a long and stiff tail with large skull and inverted snout. |

The size of the adults Velociraptor was nearly two meters in length and about half a meter in height. It weighed around thirty-three to forty-five pounds. The skull of Velociraptor was as nearly 25 centimeters long. They had about 26 to 28 ragged sharp teeth.
One short and two long claws were present in the front leg of the Velociraptor. They used the claw to damage the different organs of the prey. This dinosaur was a good hunter and could kill its prey very easily using its sharp claws. At times, the dinosaur hunted as a part of a group, and this was the time to attack larger animals. Many of the scientists have opined that dinosaurs had feathers, but due to lack to any evidence it is still an opinion and not a scientific fact.
The Velociraptor became extinct some 65 million years ago during the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction incident. It is said that the dinosaurs could not remain alive after the asteroid impact. This period also witnessed the extinction of many plants and animals.
The above mentioned facts make many things clear in the mind of the reader about the Velociraptor and also proved that many aspects of the Velociraptor depicted in the blockbuster movie Jurassic Park were actually factually incorrect.
