History Of Velociraptor
The first fossil of a Velociraptor revealed that it died fighting with one of its social peers, the Protoceratops. In the year 1991, when the remains were discovered, both of them were in the pose that depicted a fight. The hands of both of them were close to each other and the sickle claw of Velociraptor was found in the Protoceratops’s throat. |

The American Museum of Natural History, in the year 1923, first discovered these fossil remains of the Velociraptor. This fossil along with skull of Protoceratops was discovered in the sandstones of the Djadokhta Formation in the Gobi Desert, and believed to have been formed during the late Cretaceous period.
The big claws of the foot, and long and thin nose made the Velociraptor look different from its family. It had ragged teeth useful and helpful for tearing flesh. It was a dinosaur that never bothered to chew its food. Rather, it swallowed it, similar to many theropods. The long arms, well-built chest and sturdy arm muscles helped it in hunting its food.
The fossil remains of the Velociraptor that was discovered in Mongolia proved that this dinosaur was not afraid of killing preys that were bigger in size. However, lizards and other such small animals were included in its diet. It had long and strong tail that helped to balance and support it while running and walking. The tail that was attached to the hips was free and flexible.
It was mainly spotted in the mid-Cretaceous period.
