How Tyrannosaurus Rex Live ?

Tyrannosaurus Rex, more commonly known as T. Rex, lived mostly in Western North America but some fossil evidence has been found in Mongolia as well. Fossils have been found in rock formations dated to the last 3 million years of the Cretaceous period. This is approximately 68 to 65 million years ago upto the time the dinosaurs became extinct.

The T. Rex was a huge meat-eating dinosaur capable of tearing off 500 lbs of meat and bones in one bite. It lived in a humid, semi tropical environment, in open forests with nearby rivers and swamps. The seasons were mild; hence there was little need for them to migrate to other places in search of food. Its prey was generally plant eating dinosaurs. Until recently, Tyrannosaurus rex was the biggest carnivorous dinosaur; Gignotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus since discovered are slightly larger. It hunted its prey with an acute sense of smell and sharp tunnel vision as its eyes were forward located.

It walked on 2 powerful legs. It had a huge head with large teeth and well developed jaw muscles. It had tiny arms each with two fingers. Each foot had 3 large toes all equipped with claws. It had a thick pointed tail that gave balance. Its neck was short and muscular. It was well built and like other dinosaurs, walked on its toes. It had huge jaws and bone -- crunching teeth. Its skin was rough and scaly.

There have so far been 24 good skeletons of the T.Rex found in the world. There is no proof that they took care of their babies who were helpless after birth.

There are many theories about how the dinosaurs died. One is that an asteroid hit the earth and blocked out the sun. This resulted in plants dying and plant eaters dying. T.Rex died because there were no plant eaters to eat.

Is-The-Tyrannosaurus-Rex-A-Scavenger      Whether or not Tyrannosaurus Rex was a scavenger has been hotly debated. The noted Hadrosaur expert Jack Horner, and in 1917, the paleontologist Lambe put forth compelling arguments in support of T. Rex being a scavenger and living off other predator’s kills. Lambe believed it to be a close relative of Gorgosaurus -- a known scavenger -- because of skeletal similarities so concluded this extended to parallel feeding habits. More..
