Facts about Tyrannosaurus Rex:
The T. Rex was a biped with powerful hind feet with three toes, each with claws and a dew claw, and two small but powerful arms with two fingers. It had a huge head balanced by a long, pointed tail. Its sharp teeth were replaceable and its jaws well developed with the capability of a remarkably crushing bite. T. Rex was capable of handling 500 pounds in a single powerful bite.
The predator was 40 feet long and between 15 and 20 feet tall, weighing around 7 tons. The huge skull alone was 5 feet in length with eye sockets each 4 inches across. Trackways reveal footprints about 18 inches long with a stride of between 12 and 15 feet and a possible speed of 15 mph. The skin was rough and scaly similar to that of an alligator.
Since both eyes were forward looking, the T. Rex had depth perception, a facility common to many predators. Its visual lobes in the brain processed visual information. T. Rex was believed to have a keen sense of smell. The tail was long and pointed, serving not only as a counter balance to the enormous head but also enabling the animal to make swift tight turns.
