According to paleontologists, there bones belonged to dinosaurs that were living in the mid to late Triassic period, which is considered to early days of the dinosaurs. The scientists who were instrumental in making this discovery said that the bones belong to the earliest known dinosaurs in the world. The bones were that of plant eating dinosaurs which have allowed the paleontologists to chart out the size. It is believed that the size of these dinosaurs was that of a newborn calf.
In addition, the paleontologists say that the fossils are mammalian like and are the first ones of their kind to be found in Madagascar. The paleontologists feel that once all the fossils are discovered, it will pave way for a wealth of information, which will allow them to find out details about the dinosaurs that lived here millions of years ago. They are certain that new species of dinosaurs will also be discovered.
The oldest dinosaur bones were originally found in Argentina and at that time they established the bones to around 227 million years old. However, the dinosaur bones found in Madagascar are presumed to be at least 5 million older than those found in Argentina.
So, it is without a doubt that the dinosaur bones found in October 1999 in Madagascar by paleontologists are the oldest ever and those of primitive dinosaurs from which the other dinosaurs gradually evolved.
